Best face powders for oily skin under Rs.550!
A month back, I did a post on the best face powders for oily skin- My top 5. It also included my favourites from high-end brands. Some of you requested me to do the same post but with affordable options. So, here I am!
It wasn’t difficult to make this post as I do affordable options as well on a daily basis. The tiring part was which ones to include and which ones not to include. I didn’t want to give more than five options otherwise it gets very confusing and also because, we’re talking only about one skin type here. Here are my top options for the Best face powders for oily skin under Rs.550:
Lakme sun expert ultra matte SPF40 compact
It is the best affordable compact powder for oily skin in India.
I also included this powder even in my list of best face powders for oily skin- My top 5.
I love how the yellowish tint in this powder brightens up my skin tone without making it look too much. It goes on smoothly and gives a matte finish. Lakme claims this one shade to be universal but I’ve my doubts. Let me know in the comments section below if you have a deep skin tone and this works for you.
I do hope that they add more colours to it in future because it’s really good.
Price in India: Rs.210
Lakme 9 to 5 flawless matte complexion compact
This Lakme compact powder for oily skin offers a natural finish and decent oil control. I find that compacts with a natural finish work a lot better with matte foundations.
The smooth texture doesn’t pick on any dry patches on my skin. If you apply more than two layers of it, it can easily emphasize any dry patches you have on your face. As is the case with most base products in India, the colour selection is very limited.
Price in India: Rs.300
Maybelline white super fresh compact
Maybelline white super fresh compact comes with a puff and mirror attached inside. It offers a light yet presentable coverage for my acne scars. The texture is a bit dry and has a tendency to make skin look flaky upon a mattifying foundation. However, it controls oil really well. Thereby, making it the best compact powder for oily skin in summer. I always found myself reaching for less blotting sheets with just this on my face.
I do have a minor problem with it though. It doesn’t suit my skin if worn continuously. After wearing it for a week, I like to use something else in between and then, return to it. This is what I noticed when I was testing it.
Price in India: Rs.255
Coloressence compact powder
Out of all the compact powders listed here, this one has the thickest packaging. It has a separate house for the sponge and mirror which I really appreciate as it’s more hygienic this way.

I have this compact in two shades- Beige and Ivory beige. Currently, I can’t find the compact in ‘Beige’ shade. It’s the one that’s more suited for my NC30 skin tone albeit it is a bit light. The other shade ‘Ivory Beige’ has a very strong yellowish tint and something I would definitely ask the dusky beauties to try out in their stores. The shade can definitely make it the best compact powder for dark skin in India and that too at an affordable price!
The powder isn’t very smooth but at a price of Rs.160, I wasn’t even expecting much. It does control oil for a decent amount of time and houses both a sponge and mirror inside its case.
L’oreal mat magique all in one transforming powder
It has a soft velvety finish that doesn’t cake, darken or look overdone while still giving you a decent amount of coverage to even out the skin. Just make sure that you choose the right shade so as to not alter the colour of your foundation.
A friend of mine who has a very sensitive skin loves this too. I’m guessing because it’s because of the soft and light texture.
It’s not very big on oil control but it’s not a major problem for me. The reason being it doesn’t cause my matte finish foundations to look dried out. It pairs well with most foundations I own.
Price in India: Rs.480
Innisfree no sebum mineral powder
This has to be the best loose powder for oily skin in India. Innisfree claims that it can be used as a dry shampoo too. I’m so happy to say that it works very well in controlling oil. On days I wear it, I reach for my oil blotting sheets maybe once or twice. It also dials down the size of the pores by a little margin. Me likey! The powder is finely milled too. Also, it doesn’t give a horrible flashback. I do get some white cast but only if I take my picture at a very close distance (arm’s length-selfie!).
Price in India: Rs.550

I have just started using Innisfree! Love it so far 🙂 Actually my skin is not oily per se but it has its own tantrum spells, some days it is dry as Thar dessert and some days it is an oil factory, but Innisfree so far is taking care of it on all days so fingers crossed, very rarely do I come across a beauty product that suits my ultra-sensitive weird skin so well ♥
