Maybelline tone on tone eyeshadow Love on Taupe review

Hola all!

Today, I’ve a new launch to review from Maybelline- an eyeshadow stick with two shades!

cream eyeshadow stick

packaging

Product description:

Maybelline tone on tone eyeshadow stick is a first-of-its-kind two-toned eyeshadow bar that creates the hottest eye makeup look in one simple swipe. Its two complementary creamy hues melt onto the lids easily and add distinct definition to the eyes. The two shades, dark and light, can be used along the lash line as well as the mobile lid or inner corner of the eye. A great option for those who are constantly on-the-go and looking for quick, fuss-free application.

My experience with Maybelline tone on tone eyeshadow Love on Taupe

Packaging: The eyeshadow stick comes in a sleek black tube with the brand name written on the front. The price and shade name were mentioned on a plastic seal that came along with it. The shade name isn’t mentioned anywhere on the packaging. As you can see, some eyeshadow does peek out and it’s because it doesn’t twist all the way in. So, be careful while opening and closing it.

The cross-section between the two eyeshadows is a straight line which is helpful to get an even application. I do wish that the dark shade had even lesser space because on my small eyes, it goes across as a thick eyeliner which doesn’t look good on me. The thickness makes my eyes look even smaller.

Texture: Maybelline tone on tone eyeshadow Love on Taupe goes on smoothy on the eyelids as well as on the eye corners, when tilted. You can blend the eyeshadow just with your fingers but I use a brush as I have super oily eyelids.

Pigmentation: As compared to the other shade ‘Bonnie on Clyde’, it is better. But even after 3-4 swipes (which btw is hard work given the square shape and reminds me of compass stationary), the intensity isn’t as desired.

It swatches better on my arm than on my eyes.

Staying power: Low. It starts fading and creasing after an hour.

Ease of use: It’s not very practical because of the square shape. But since there’s not a very distinct line between both the shades, a different angle on the same place doesn’t make much difference. You can also use both of them separately.

You might like Maybelline tone on tone eyeshadow Love on Taupe if:

– You’re always in a hurry and just want a light swipe of eye makeup.

– You are a makeup beginner and don’t want to go through the hassle of blending.

– You don’t mind constant touch-ups.

– You don’t have oily eyelids.

– You are into extremely natural eyeshadow finish.

Sadly, this product is not for me. Both the pigmentation and staying power are a let-down. I like the concept though.
