I first came across this Kama Ayurveda mridul soap free face cleanser in their store when I was strolling in DLF mall, saket. One glance at their store and it had such a luxurious look which was quite alluring. I was searching for a new moisturizer for my face and that was a sign for me to check out their products. They had only one moisturizer. I liked its texture but was heart-broken to find ‘Cocos Nucifera Oil’ as one of the main ingredients. In simpler terms, it’s called ‘Coconut oil’ which is highly comedogenic and not very friendly with oily skin prone to acne. I skipped it and was instead shown the Mridul free soap cleanser. I wondered looking at its coarse texture as to how will I be able to even put it on my sensitive skin. I walked out empty-handed.
This happened two years back and today, I’m in love with that very cleanser! Even when I received it, I was scared to put it on my face. But I’m glad I tried this Kama Ayurveda mridul soap free cleanser!
Time period during which I used it: 15 Nov,16- 27 Feb,17 (Yes, I like to track results.)
My skin type: Sensitive, acne prone and I had combination type during the time I used it.
What made me switch to a soap free cleanser: Recently, I did a post on the four biggest skincare mistakes I made as a beginner. One of them was using a harsh cleanser. Check the post toย find out how they affected my skin. Before this, I was using Forest Essentials kashmiri saffron face wash.
What made me try it: The Forest Essentials one was working well for me. But I kept reading reviews online about how gentle this cleanser is. Out of the dozen reviews I read, I saw only one average review for it. I decided to give it a go!
What makes Kama Ayurveda soap free face cleanser different from others: Thanks to years of harsh acne medications my skin has gone through, I have to deal with dehydrated skin. Also, with fluctuations in skin type regardless of the weather transition.
Anyone who suffers from a dehydrated skin frequently will know that the skin feels less bouncy and smooth, looks dull and makes applying base makeup one hell of a task!
This cleanser has made my skin softer than before, improved my natural complexion and reduced the frequency of blackheads too. Sounds basic, right? It’s not. I never thought a cleanser could actually help me improve the condition of my skin!
Am I still using it?
During the three months I used it, I didn’t face any breakouts on my skin. A few days back, I got tiny bumps on my skin due to a skin experiment of mine. This is when I realized that I can’t use this over those bumps or pimples. So, I ordered Kama Ayurveda rose jasmine face cleanser two weeks back and have been using it since then. If it doesn’t work for me that well, I’ll keep alternating between the two.
How long does Kama Ayurveda mridul soap free cleanser last: I used this one in morning and Innisfree apple juicy cleansing oil at night. Sometimes, twice a day. Even after using it for 3 months, I still have quantity good enough to last me for another week or so.
Texture: Coarse, grainy.
The only category I wouldn’t recommend this to: Who get pimples frequently.
Packaging: It comes in a steel jar packaging which contains the cleanser in a powder form. A small sized wooden spoon also comes along with it. Also, I love it that the paper around the jar doesn’t spoil even after coming in contact with water.
How I use it: I take 2 servings of the powder with the wooden spoon and mix it with 3-4 drops of water. I massage it and then, rinse with water. Please ensure to use a gentle motion on your face while massaging it. Then, I pat my face dry and without wiping every drop, I follow up with a moisturizer on my damp skin.
If you’re keen on trying it but still not sure: Visit their website and go for ‘Free trial’ option. You can find different products as sample sizes. There’s a flat shipping charge of Rs.150. I really do wish they added more products in their free trial section. Be mindful of what you put in your basket because you’ll have to put that on your face too. Do research well online.
Price: Rs.425

I am trying powder face cleanser from a brand ‘mitti se’..But I am eyeing on this cleanser for long..Would try it soon.. ๐ ๐

I guess the only con i feel about this is, we cant just solely depend on this cleanser whenever we are using makeup and what to wash your face later in the day. But for normal cleansing and exfoliating this is the best. ๐ Love it
Heena says
Totally agree!
But I, anyways, don’t use a face wash to remove my makeup.

I am eyeing the Mridul cleanser, as suggested by you, I will go for the sample first. I use Kama’s Jwalini oil and it’s doing good so far, I like their Vetiver mist, I forget the exact name but it’s heavenly for summer
Heena says
Good in what aspects?
Really? I keep trying mists every now and then in summer. Adding it to my wishlist B-)
