Benefit Cosmetics “They’re Real” Mascara Review, EOTD

in Eyes, Makeup, Mascara on 04/02/14

“I hate you, like I love you!” < This line goes perfectly for my feelings for this mascara!
What it is:
A jet-black mascara that lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts, and separates lashes for a spectacular “out-to-here” look.

What it does:
This breakthrough bestseller reveals lashes you never knew you had! The specially designed brush features staggered bristles that grab close to the root, boosting length and volume beyond belief. The custom-domed tip uses precision bristles to lift, define, and curl even your tiniest lashes. With a glossy, jet-black, long-wearing formula, you’ll flaunt luxurious, silky lashes that won’t smudge, clump, or dry out. True story!

What else you need to know:
Go horizontal! The staggered bristles grab close to the root, boosting length and volume. Then go vertical! The custom-domed tip with precision bristles lift, define, and curl even your tiniest lashes.

My experience with this mascara:
This is the first mascara in my life that doesn’t make me resentful for not being able to use eyelash curlers.
This smaller sized mascara is a part of THIS kit. As always, I love the packaging. Plus, I love the quirky name so much! As you can see, it’s a straight and thick mascara wand. Since the brush is thick, it’s able to curl eyelashes really well. But the irritating part is that a lot of product gets accumulated at the tip which has to be brushed down. Initially the consistency of the mascara was creamy due to which it took much more time to dry. And, also it used to weight down my lashes a little. But with one month gone by, the consistency has gone to a little stiff which I like the most. It dries fast now. Plus, it uplifts my eyelashes beautifully now.

It does the job of separating, volumizing and lengthening my eyelashes real nicely. Even after two coats, it does not clump a bit. I feel it’s definitely due to its creamy consistency. The best part about this mascara is that it holds up the effect even after 10 hours and at the same intensity. This is one of the rare things I have ever come across in mascara. It has never smudged a bit on me but then, the real test would be in summers! I so wish it was waterproof since it’s really expensive.
The most annoying part for me here is that it’s very difficult to remove. I didn’t have that much problem even while removing waterproof mascaras! But this is so hard to remove, I tell you! I have to hold on my soaked cotton pads on eyes for really long and that too for twice. Even after that, it doesn’t get fully removed. My lashes still feel really stiff. I ended up losing an eyelash or two the previous time.

See the picture? It has not just separated and created volume so nice, but has also lengthened my eyelashes so nicely and straight! And, no eyelash curler used!

VCB Rating: 3.75/5

See Katrina’s eyelashes here? I had always wanted these kind of spikey straight eye lashes and this mascara just does the same! Maybe she too used this mascara.. What do you think?

I also think she used this one too because the effect is pretty much the same and the brand is "big enough" for the film stars 😉

This mascara reminds me of my first ever mascara which was gifted by my uncle ( who introduced me to makeup, hehe )

It was a silver one and the wand was exactly the same. Loving what it does to the lashes and it's great news that you don't gave to use a curler, that says a lot
