La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40 review
I have been a loyal user of Lotus matte sunscreen gel SPF50 for years but since the last 7-8 months, it hasn’t been suiting my skin. It exaggerates the dry patches on my cheeks, even when followed up with a moisturizer. I switched to Sunscros sunscreen and now, have been using La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40 for the last two months. Honestly, I find both this one and the one by Suncros twins.
Product description:
La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40 is a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects the skin against UVA and UVB rays by providing a physical and chemical barrier to sunlight. La Shield Sunscreen Gel is non-comedogenic which protects your skin from harmful sun rays. This sunscreen lotion is suitable for normal and oily-acne prone skin. It comes in a squeezable off white tube with a light golden cap and is convenient to use.
My experience with La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40:
The oil free sunscreen comes in a white tube with a screw-on cap. It is housed inside a cardboard packaging which contains all details like how to use it, ingredients list, expiry date and a mini pamphlet which has some useful tips. I love when products are accompanied with mini pamphlets. For some strange reason, I find reading them very satisfactory.
Weird!
La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40 is not a gel but rather a cream with thick consistency. I thought I could skip my moisturizer with it but after 3 days, I realized I couldn’t. Maybe because my skin is prone to dehydration. During the initial application stage, it feels a bit greasy and also, looks shiny. But after 5 minutes, it gets absorbed in completely leaving no chip-chip feeling behind. It feels light-weight.
And, that’s exactly how even Suncros sunscreen behaves on my skin. Even the color of both the creams is almost same. You can see in the swatches below.
After having used this for 2 months, I can safely say that it doesn’t cause breakouts on my skin. I also don’t see my skin getting tanned easily.

All this said, I’m now on the lookout for my next sunscreen. La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40 works well for my oily acne prone skin but I don’t particularly enjoy wearing it. I want one that leaves me with hydrated skin and works well both with and without makeup.
Summary:
La Shield oil free sunscreen gel SPF40 hasn’t clogged my pores or caused breakouts on my oily acne prone skin. The texture isn’t incredibly light-weight but gets absorbed in completely after 5 minutes, leaving no oily film behind. I find it working for all skin types but if yours is prone to dehydration, you might find yourself following up with a hydrating product.
Most importantly, I see it working!
I’m yet to find a better one though.
