So far, each product from this new naturale range has been disappointing for me. Be it the aloe aqua gel, naturale finishing loose powder or the most recent- kajal gel.

My experience with Lakme 9 to 5 naturale foundation drops:

Lakme 9 to 5 naturale foundation drops come in a frosted glass bottle with a screw-on cap. Once you unscrew the cap, you will find that the bottle has a little hole on top to dispense the product. I was afraid that a lot of product will go wasted. But you have to tap the bottle at the back of your hand to get the product out. This way, you can control the amount. A pump one would have obviously been better.

The foundation has a very liquidy consistency but not to extent where it runs on your skin, like Absolute argan oil foundation. Since it spread easily, a little goes a long way. I suggest you to start with less quantity otherwise it can cake up. It blends easily too. I used it with a stippling brush, sponge, flat foundation brush and my fingers as well. The last two options do the job well.

As for the coverage, the brand claims it’s buildable but I don’t agree. I found that the more I layered it, the more I increased the chances of it looking cakey. Lakme 9 to 5 naturale foundation drops give a sheer coverage but I’ll tell you a trick to get more out of it. The finish isn’t exactly skin-like but very natural. It’s important that you set it with powder to make it last, especially if you have combination-oily skin.

After about 5 hours, I can see it faded on my nose and chin. That’s not all. After seven hours, I noticed it collected on some dry spots that weren’t even visible before. It’s also not a foundation that I find very easy to re-touch. The prime reason being it transfers on blotting sheets.

This is how I use the foundation:

I pour it into my hand, let it sit for 30 seconds and then, rub it into my palm using my other hand. Then, I apply it on my face. This way, I get better coverage and less shine from it. After it has blended, I press powder on my skin using a damp beauty blender. This method takes away most of the shine. When I also followed up with a fixing spray, it wore even better.

The ’18ml’ part however is too much. Add to it only 4 shades are available!

Summary:

If you are after a foundation that offers a good coverage to hide your dark circles and blemishes, skip it. Lakme 9 to 5 naturale foundation drops will offer you a radiant semi-matte finish that looks natural, works will some spot concealing and lasts for a decent amount of time. As with every foundation, moisturize well before applying it. The touch-up part and false ‘buildable’ claim is what’s most disappointing.

I don’t have a problem with its staying power. Lakme never made claims for that. But I hardly see it working for dry skinned people too because of the manner in which it fades and the touch-up part.
