If anything, it actually gets overwhelming after a while. If you are feeling confused thinking over it, this post on matte red lipsticks should help you.
As always, I forgot to include some lipsticks in my pictures but have added them in the post below and linked them to their review.
Let’s get started!
Maybelline super stay 24 hour lip color ‘Keep up the flame’
If you are looking for a budge-proof lip color when it comes to drinks and light snacks, look no further than this! Maybelline ‘Keep up the flame’ is a red lipstick with some serious staying power. It packs a punch of color in one go only and leave a completely matte finish behind.
Price in India: Rs.600
Maybelline color jolt intense lip paint ‘Vamp Red’
Maybelline color jolt intense lip paint ‘Vamp Red’ is a beautiful deep red shade which should suit a variety of skin tones. Twice, I mixed it with a primer and wore it as a light tint of blush along with the lip color. It gives a lip tattoo kind of finish after some minutes when it settles and wears for very long.
Price in India: Rs.450
Blue Heaven non transfer liquid matte lipstick ‘Brick Red’
If you are in need of a full-on red in a proper matte finish without compromising on your budget, try this one. It’s fairly water-proof as long as you’re having drinks. The formula breaks when you start indulging in oily food.
Price in India: Rs.205
The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid ‘Sydney Amaryllis’
The texture of this matte red lipstick is more like a lip cream. It covers the natural color of my lips completely and stays for around 2-3 hours depending on what you eat and drink.
Touching up is not a problem as it’s easy to remove.
Price in India: Rs.695
Elle18 Color pops matte lipstick ‘Deep Pink’
On my skin tone, it leans more towards red than pink. This is a super affordable red lip option if you like your mattes to be comfortable.
Price in India: Rs.100
MAC Ruby Woo
I never got the hype surrounding this shade (Gasp! I know!) as I know of other reds too that suit a variety of complexions. But if you’re fed up of finding the perfect red and want to go with an option recommended by what? Thousands of people! Go for MAC Ruby Woo.

FYI: It’s a trouble applying it after some months as the texture begins to dry out. Heat it a bit and it should be fine. Please keep moving the bullet over the flame else it might melt.
Price in India: Rs.1500
CAL Los Angeles intense matte lipstick ‘Crimson Red’
If you want a complete matte finish without the high-maintenance of a liquid lipstick, check this one out. Wearing a balm underneath is a must to get a proper application with it. It offers medium coverage and even after a full meal, a stain is left behind.
Price in India: Rs.295
Lakme absolute lip pout ‘Victorian Rose’
This is one of my favourite shades from Lakme and I still visit it occasionally. I think this is a beautiful option if you’re looking for a red lipstick and have a light-warm skin tone. Anymore deeper than it and it can look unflattering.
Price in India: Rs.650
It costs Rs. 650 but can be found for Rs.450-500 online.
L’oreal moist matte lipstick ‘Flaming Kiss’
I adore this lipstick! From the stunning shade to the amazing formula, everything is top notch. It’s one of the top matte red lipsticks for Indian skin tones. It has a soft matte finish and thereby ideal even for people with parched lips.
Price in India: Rs.900
It costs Rs.900 but since it’s old in the market, you can get it for Rs.700 online now.
