Do you remember I did a post some time back saying that I hate liquid lipsticks and lean more towards the traditional matte formula? Are you wondering then what the heck is this woman doing buying ‘The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid?’ Call it a job of a beauty blogger to experiment, the keedha of new launches or the fact that someone likes Jacqueline a lot , I found myself automatically gravitating towards ‘The Body Shop’ store when I went to watch ‘Beauty and the beast’ movie.
The moment I swatched them, something felt different.. Wait! Can it be? An expensive version of NYX lip cream? Really? Should I buy? They cost.. what? Are you serious? Just Rs. 695? Oki! I’ll have one ^_^

My experience with The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid ‘Sydney Amaryllis’:
I’m sure that the packaging reminds you of the NYX soft matte lip creams- color coded body, matte black caps and sleek body. But is that where the similarities end?
Nope!
From the formula to the pigmentation to the lasting power, the differences are hardly noticeable.
The Body Shop matte lip liquid has a mousse like formula that doesn’t dry down completely- nothing like a liquid lipstick but just like that of NYX soft matte lip cream. Albeit slightly thicker. It doesn’t offer an intense color coverage as per the claims made. The pigmentation needs to be build in layers which is slightly difficult as the color tends to move. So, I have to wait for the first layer to dry till the extent of adding another layer to get extra coverage. After some 10 minutes, it dries down to a soft, powdery finish.
The body shop matte lip liquid “Sydney Amaryllis’ is a gorgeous red with strong orange undertones. It’s quite easy to wear as it’s not full coverage and it has this hint of pink which stops it from being an “in-your-face” shade.
Regarding the staying power, it transfers a lot. After having just coffee and one cookie, it left a ring formation on my lips. Given how bright the color is, it’s quite noticeable. After having a full meal, it went away almost completely. It doesn’t even stain. Quite disappointing as it’s supposed to last long.
Since it doesn’t turn patchy or crumbly, it can be touched up easily. Also, it doesn’t feel drying on lips. I always start with a thick layer of lip balm 30 minutes prior to wearing it. As for the scent, it smells exactly like ‘Bubblegum’. Nothing bothersome as it goes away once the product has dried up.
The Body Shop Matte Liquid Lip is just a slightly better upgrade to the NYX lip cream in terms of being more soft and light-weight. In India, the price of both of these is more or less the same. So, you might want to go for the one by TBS.
