PAC Beauty Blender Sponge Review

I was in the same boat as many others back in 2013 when I fell down the ‘original beauty blender’ rabbit hole. Is it a good place to be? Yes! Does it really make a difference? On dehydrated, not-so-funny skin type- a massive one! What about the maintenance costs? Well, yeah.. So, let me review ‘PAC beauty blender sponge’ today which costs a fraction of the original beauty blender and this post is not a comparison between both.

– PAC beauty blender sponge is the only pink sponge I own. It looks super cute! It has a tear-drop shape but not very pointy. However, once damp, it’s easy to use around the under-eye area.

– When it’s dry, it’s quite stiff, heavy, has a slightly rubbery feel and very less flexibility. But the texture doesn’t feel hard or annoying on the skin. Since it’s not that light, it also means that it’s less delicate.

– After placing it under flowing tap for 10 seconds, it starts to swell up. It doesn’t double up in size but does expand by 20-30%. When damp, it gets more flexible and softer.

– When it comes to blending foundations, it does a good job with those that have at least medium coverage and a decent one with those that have a low coverage. Why am I saying this? Because it soaks up a lot of water and offers a coverage too sheer. So, if you are applying a base product that has a light coverage, you will notice that it sheers it out even more. What I did then was apply foundation with using my fingers and then, rolled this gently on my skin to make it look natural. It worked. It also leads to less product wastage. Or you can work in layers.

– How much of a difference does the PAC beauty blender sponge make on a skin with dry patches? None. This is where it disappoints me the most. I have an oily skin prone to dry patches and the reason why I switched from beauty blenders to buffing brushes was to get a clean finish without emphasizing them.

– Upon washing, it doesn’t bleed dye and dries in about a day.

– I have been using it for over 2 months and it’s still going good.

How to use it:

Run it under flowing tap water until fully drenched, squeeze it to remove excess water and then, bounce it along your skin singing a cute song. Preferably ‘I like to move it, move it..I like to move it, move it..’

It can be used to apply foundation, concealer, corrector, blush and even powder. You can also press it on your skin to push foundation underneath so that your makeup lasts long .

If you’re looking for a sponge that absorbs less product around the same price point, you might want to try MAC sponge.

Summary:

PAC beauty blender sponge does an okay job at blending and given its affordable price, you can surely give it a try. More so, if you are new to the world of beauty blenders. Just know that since it retains a lot of water, it tones down the coverage a lot more than a beauty blender is supposed to. If your intention of purchasing it is to lessen the look of flaky skin, you may skip it.
