Leaving lipsticks, I like to take my own sweet time to review products. With a base product type like foundation, I take anywhere between 15 days- months to form an opinion about it. I test it with different tools and under different weather conditions. If a find a product good in the first few uses only, I get too excited. Therefore, I wait for my excitement to settle down so that it doesn’t overshadow my review. Another important reason being to check that it isn’t causing my skin to breakout. But then there are some foundations you know just aren’t going to work. A recent one for me is Iba Halal pure skin liquid foundation. I so wanted it to work given how affordable it is. But it just doesn’t make the cut.
Before I begin with the review, an intro of this new brand: The products of Iba halal are free of pig fat, other animal derived ingredients, alcohol and harsh chemicals. So, a big thumbs up for that! 👍

Why I don’t like it:
– Exaggerated claims!
– It emphasizes the texture of my skin and settles badly into pores.
– It clings to even mild dry patches and the look is really obvious. It’s not like I wore a foundation on my skin with dry patches for the first time and it looked visible when I zoomed in my eyes on it. But with this one, the situation gets worse as the hours pass by.
– It starts smearing off from the top of my cheeks after an hour only and gives me a ‘polka dot’ face.
– It offers a light coverage and not a full one as made in the claims. Nope, the coverage is not buildable.
– The finish errs more on the dewy side rather than being a matte one.
– It’s not even close to being sweat-resistant.
– It caused small pimples on my skin. Want to know the funny thing? I tried this foundation even after knowing that it might do that. How?
As soon as I received the bottle, I checked the ingredients list. The third one listed is “Caprylic capric triglyceride”, one of the many comedogenic ingredients someone with an acne prone should avoid. Now, I don’t believe that every product which claims to be non-comedogenic is safe for acne prone skin (speaking from experience) but this one has a rating of medium on the scale. So, it might be the culprit. It’s an oily emollient and used to moisturize skin. No wonder, my skin felt greasy within 2 hours only.
I still decided to take my chance. So, I started by applying it on just half of my face. When I woke up the next morning, I saw a tiny pimple right on my cheeks. I haven’t got a pimple on my skin from the past 5-6 months for which I have worked quite hard. Naturally, I was heart-broken to see it. But I still had my own doubts and therefore, decided to give it another go after 2 days. I applied it on the other half side of my face. Bam! Another pimple!
It was time to bid it goodbye!
I have the shade ‘Natural beige’ in Iba Halal pure skin liquid foundation which is too yellow for my skin tone.
The only good thing Iba Halal pure skin liquid foundation is its packaging. I don’t know for what skin category this should work. It makes the oily parts of my face oily and makes the flakes on skin more visible. Maybe someone with a normal skin type and not much skin problems can give it a try.
Price: Rs.310, I got it at a discounted price of Rs. 269.
Quantity: 30ml
VCB rating: 1/5
I find Ponds BB cream far better than this. Actually, even on its own! I think we all should really write a letter to it to come up with more shades in it.

Hey Pihu
A non-comedogenic ingredient is no guarantee. However, these are the foundations that suit my oily acne prone sensitive skin:
L’oreal mat magique foundation- http://www.vanitycasebox.com/2016/11/loreal-mat-magique-12h-bright-mat-foundation-review.html
L’oreal true match foundation – http://www.vanitycasebox.com/2015/03/luxurious-base-in-less-than-1000-bucks-loreal-paris-the-true-match-foundation.html
I always set this foundation with powder using a damp sponge.
Lakme absolute white intense skin cover SPF25 foundation- http://www.vanitycasebox.com/2014/07/lakme-absolute-white-intense-skin-cover-spf25-review.html

Most of the Iba products don’t work. I tried to support this brand but they’re making money using people’s sentiment. Their hair colours don’t work, skin care is useless and full of harmful chemicals, attar sprays are like tap water and cheap staining perfumes, hair oil is mineral oil based.
