Okay, I’ll stay and explain a bit as to why I hate liquid lipsticks.
There are some who look the same when they leave the house. Their hairstyle is spot on, their selfies and portrait shots pretty much look the same and even after 12 hours have gone by, their makeup hasn’t disintegrated and winged eyeliner is still on fleek! Unfortunately, I’m not one of them.
After having spent an hour or so doing my makeup and hair, I step outside feeling like a boss. Just like in this pic:
It’s only a matter of minutes before I look like someone who got out of home straight from bed. Okay! A little exaggerated but I hope you get the gist. Liquid lipsticks make me feel the same way.
What happens when I go out applying liquid lipsticks:
After I apply them (after a good amount of prepping), I love the look. However, the nightmare begins once I start to eat. It’s like having a heap of dirt attached to my lips. It’s not just the patchiness and that terrible flaky ring line which irks me. The amount of effort that goes for its touch-up can’t be ignored. After having a good time at the restaurant and indulging in heavenly snacks, I don’t want to spend an eternity in the washroom fixing it and my friends lodging a missing report for me. Has this ever happened with you?Β Like you went to touch-up your liquid lipstick, spent over 15 mins in the washroom and your friends left the place without you? Nope?Β Not with me too!
I love matte lipsticks and the drying formula but not the one which makes my lips the centre of attraction in a bad way. I have only tried 4 liquid lipsticks till date but that’s only because I can’t stand them anymore. I don’t even have dry lips usually. The only time I face chapped lips is when I’m very sick. I do like the Revlon Ultra matte HD lip colors range because they wear beautifully and don’t dry completely. I also used one shade to show how to wear lipsticks as blush.
Pretty much, the reasons why I hate liquid lipsticks. Too much of a high-maintenance. I’m okay with checking the condition of my lipstick after I’m done eating pizza and fries but doing that every 10 mins..nope, not happening for me. I want to concentrate only on food and the chit-chat session I’m having.
Am I the only one who doesn’t understand the hype around liquid lipsticks? Are you a liquid lipstick lover? Do you worship them? Will you stop visiting my blog now? O_O

You spoke my heart out! π¬π¬π¬π¬ I love this post!!! You should have done it sooner. Even I don’t get the hype around it all. It looks so so ugly after sometime. I did rather stain my lips rather than making my lips suffer that way. Love this post, Heena That’s why you are one of those few unique beauty bloggersπππππ
Heena says
Hehe, better late than never π
Exactly! Now you spoke my heart out π I just can’t seem to join that bandwagon or shell out more money on it just to have a change of heart for liquid lippies :-s
Awwww.. Thanks a ton, Shaili! You just made my day π

I love this new trend..
I always apply a base coat of a normal lip colour under liquid lipstick to avoid uneven fading…
BTW have you tried NYX ultimate suede range… Heard they are fab and may just change the way you feel about liquid lipstick…
It’s on my wishlist
Heena says
Awesome! Which liquid lipsticks have you tried?
I also use that trick a lot. But when it comes to liquid lipsticks, it doesn’t work me. The texture is already thick and it just becomes thicker. Plus, it’s more about how flaky and crusty my lips get :-s
I haven’t tried NYX ultimate suede range but what I figured from the reviews online, even they dry down completely. Thanks for the recco though, I’ll check again π

You got that right! Liquid lipsticks are really tricky to work with and they get messed up so easily…
Heena says
Right, I’m going to maintain distance from them for sometime and maybe, then give another try.

hahhaha!!! your caption drew me in. Said like a boss, right on with those liquid lipsticks. Haven’t found the one yet myself. I am not a big fan of the formulas out there. But then again, I haven’t tried each and every one of them. just the ones that i’m able to reach for. Loving your articles. Just love the thought process that’s going into making each and every post. Wow!!!

Glad to see people are still visiting my blog π π π π
Really? *Does a happy dance* \:D/
It’s the same with me. I’ve tried only 4 but they are too much of a hassle. Discouraging enough for me to not buy them for a long time.
Thank you so much for the feedback. Glad you’re liking them. Plz lemme know if you’ve any blogpost ideas here or you can even mail me at vanitycasebox @gmail.com π

I recently tried Colourpop liquid lipsticks. Not my favourite in terms of how they feel but it is my first venture into liquid lipsticks. PS these kind of settle down and you don’t really feel them after a while.

I tried Color Pop Ultra matte liquid lipstick in shade ‘Brooklyn’. But I didn’t like that one too. Gets all flaky after a meal π Thank you so much for the recco though π
I think I’m very traditional when it comes to matte.. I like the usual formula.

Hey, Heena!
You’re a mind reader! π
Once I wore a liquid lipstick that turns completely matte and, my God, the horror after a few hours.. It looked like my lips were going to crack in to tiny pieces and fall right off! But then again, I couldn’t give up so easy. So I went ahead and tried another that wouldn’t dry matte but would be all creamy-gleamy. I felt like a star π (with absolutely no idea that I looked like a clown) it had transferred EVERYWHERE, was bleeding out and the only amount left on my lips was a nice dark ring around them. I kept smiling like I was some celebrity with shiny, red lips… Only till I got home and looked in the mirror π·π€π΅
Maybe every brand and every formula is not going to give me the same experience, some might actually suit me and work well, but I am unwilling to risk it π
XOXO π

Awww.. That’s so sweet of you. I wish I was one π
Andddd…You made me laugh out loud! ππ On days I’m wearing new makeup, I can’t help but watch my reflection again and again in a car’s side mirror. I recall a very embarrassing makeup story!
Anyhoo, trying liquid lipstick was like trying an extended version of a product (Hey Dominos pizza burger!). Not at all enticing π
I agree. There may be a formula out there which makes us fall in love with liquid lipsticks. But then are we ready yet to spend more on this category? Absolutely no!ππ
