Days are dark, nights are long, there are miles to go, miles to go.. till I reach Sephora!
Now, Sephora is not my problem. In fact, it’s a place where I forget all my problems! Today, I wanted to do a post on the serious issues faced by me and am sure, by other beauty bloggers face too. Yes! Serious, not funny! Ahem! And, they are:
1) When the doorbell rings!
– I wake up, all excited to try out and test the new products in my kitty. I wash my face, slap on some moisturizer and begin with my makeup ritual. It’s done and I mentally speak to myself, “Ooh! Maybe I should also do a photoshoot. It’ll save time on swatches.” *Quickly changes top, combs her hair and wears jewellery* It’s been only 5 minutes since the photoshoot began and the dreadful thing happens! The doorbell rings! The courier man/driver/neighbour/laundry person stares and must think to themselves “What kind of fashion is it to wear a fancy top with PJs?!” Oh Yes! It’s true! My camera won’t capture the bottom part, so I don’t bother.
2) The one eyed girl
– When testing out a new eye makeup product, the usual scene is testing it out on one eye only and clicking its swatch pictures in balcony. I pray and pray to my fullest that no one enters in park in this particular time but my prayers are ignored. Children, girls, women, helpers, men, boys, dogs, birds, flies, air..all!! All have to pass by through there then only and imagine my plight when I happen to notice some funny faces and oogling stares.. like they will right away dial mental hospital helpline!
3) Crying over cool rainy days in summers!
– Although this happens very less with me (since I love romantic weather), but it still does! Most of the times, the only day I get to shoot pictures is on Sunday. In previous summers, most Sundays were accompanied with rain. While my friends were rejoicing, family was eating hot pakodas, I was sitting with a grumpy face and crying for Sun uncle to show his presence. Yes, I ate pakodas while still keeping a grumpy face! Hmph!
4) Moment of creepiness
– A few weeks back, I saw a girl in metro who was wearing a gorgeous lip shade. I seemed to know the shade but just could not remember. I looked at her from a distance 1-2 times trying to remember. 2-3 minutes later, I realize I’m scaring her. How? Because I grasp the fact that lost in my lipstick thoughts, I have been unknowingly staring at her lips for all that time. This is just a recent example. Staring at pretty things for long, knowing I can’t/ can’t afford to buy them, is a whole another story!
5) Conflicting relationship with self
– After having shopped for cartons of makeup the previous month, you try being hard on yourself and tell yourself “Be calm and collected in the store”. But here’s what really happens>
“I don’t need it.. No, I don’t”… “Oh no, I need it! I need it in my life.”
Both arms are covered with swatches till mid way.
3-4 products are picked more while waiting in the waiting line.
6) Urge to lay hands ASAP on new launches
– When Maybelline launched new shades in their hyperglossy liquid eyeliner, I got so excited. Since the products were not available in my area side, I suggested to my friend that we travel a bit more. Next thing I knew was that I had spent Rs.1000 on petrol, Rs.700 on food and 6 hours to get eyeliners worth Rs. 225!
Oh gosh! It hurts! I can’t write now about other problems like compromising on clothes, shoes, bank balance, choosing makeup over food.. no! I can’t! I now realize there are other bigger problems too faced by us beauty bloggers! But no! I can’t!

OMG, so true. So many times I've spent 100s of rupees just to go try out something at a store far away from my house. I just realised how stupid I have been after you pointed it out :O :cries:

Oh My God!! My sides are aching and yet, I still do completely agree with you! Once, I tried two colors of liners on two eyes, and it was a holiday and lunch time. My father, on seeing me in that strange makeup look, exclaimed that fashion have become so weird these days!

Such a hilarious post! Happens to me always too. Compromising makeup over everything.. that's me! My dad keeps telling me about how many lipsticks I own for one lips! Also, once I was trying this black smokey eye which totally smudged on me and my parents had told me to get it off that instant! 😛

I Know! *Monica style*
And, We aren't even sorry! *Joey style*
Doing Smokey eyes nicely is one thing and maintaining them for long hours is a totally different thing.
Ahaha! It has happened with me too, Emmy 😛
But staring at lipsticks feels so good 🙂
