Best affordable makeup products in India
Most of the queries which I get are from students. The one query which tops is suggestions for affordable makeup products in India. So, I decided to make this post! If I had to make this post 2 years back, I wonder if I would have any suggestions to give. It’s because inexpensive products did exist in the Indian market but the quality levels were not at par. But it’s not the case anymore. And, I just hope this scenario keeps improving! Moving on to the post, I have included base products which can easily be used for everyday purpose. Even for special events! Feel free to make these products a part of the Indian makeup kit for beginners, which I put together. Just click on the product’s names to read my reviews on them.
Streetwear surprised us by introducing this range. The funky packaging coupled with quality performance won many hearts! This powder makeup compact has a mirror and good quality sponge inside. The powder is smooth and non-chalky. For oily skin, the staying power is decent. It lasts longer on people with combination/dry/normal skin. It’s the best compact powder for daily use in this range. The major con is availability of two shades. “Neutral” should work for fair-medium skin tone while the latter for dusky skin tone. Price: Rs.160 for 7 gm
This Colorbar compact comes with a mirror and puff. The texture is smooth although a bit dry. This works nicely for oily and combination skin. The finish is matte. Since it can stick to the dry patches on skin, it’s best suited for oily skin type. It has 4 shades available. Price: Rs.250 for 9gm
Blotting sheets are one of the best products for oily skin. These ones aren’t very effective at sucking oil from face but two sheets at a time do a decent job. When you do a touch-up, use a blotting sheet first and then, re-apply your compact. This isn’t just helpful in effective re-application of your powder (since you wouldn’t be re-applying on an oily layer which makes no sense) but is also hygienic. A safer bet at non-blocking of your pores. If you are applying compact again on your oily skin and experiencing breakouts, this might be one reason. Price: Rs. 175 for 50 sheets.
Shell 225 (400-175=5,2,2..Yes! My math is right!) bucks more and take home these ones which have a much better quality. They take out oil effectively and also powder your face at the same time. If you don’t apply makeup but still need to stop oily skin, always keep a pack of blotting sheets with you. Price: Rs.400 for 50 sheets
This is hands down best BB cream for oily acne prone skin in India. It provides a good coverage for my acne marks, makes my pore size look smaller and transfers very less in humidity. It also has SPF 30 PA++ protection, which means I don’t have to wear sunscreen individually when I wear it. Price: Rs.125 for 30 gm
An ideal BB cream for dry skin. It has a light coverage but still gives a presentable look to face. It lends a pretty glow to face. If you are oily skinned, consider staying away from it. Price: Rs.119/Rs.189
This Avon powder makeup comes in a pretty packaging. It has an inbuilt mirror and puff. I find its texture similar to Colorbar one. Smooth yet a little dry. Comparison wise, it fares much better on my super oily skin. But I stopped using it since it has tea tree oil, which doesn’t suit me. Price: Rs.180 for 11gm
An orange corrector is used to neutralize the color of dark circles. If you have been wondering why your dark circles are still visible or are appearing ashy grey even after using a good coverage concealer, turn to this magic wand! Use it before using your regular shade of concealer and see the magic. The trick is to use it blend it properly. It’s an affordable orange concealer for Indian skin. Price: Rs.400 for 9m
A green corrector is meant to neutralize redness on skin. I use it before applying concealer on pimples. It has a creamy yet stiff texture. However, it blends in fully with a damp sponge after warming the product with fingers. Price: Rs.350 for 4ml
Another one of the amazing affordable makeup products in India. If you have pigmentation issues on your face or mainly around your mouth, you might want to consider getting it. Price: Around Rs.250
It has got a sleek packaging; the powder is smooth and evens out skin nicely. Price: Rs. 175 for gm
*Hope this helps. Do you have any other product to add to this list?
