My Experience with NYX HD Photogenic Concealer:
The NYX HD Concealer comes in a simple glass packaging. When I want to use the concealer for my eyes, I directly apply from the wand. And, when I use it cover my blemishes, I apply concealer on back of my hand and then, I use it. The packaging is so travel friendly!
The texture of the concealer is creamy and light (I Remember Oreos! Yum! Ahem!). It blends in seamlessly with the skin. The finish is semi-matte. It doesn’t looks patchy or dry at all. It provides medium-full coverage which is brilliant. But if you have really dark eye circles, using an orange/peach corrector would be needed. The same goes for deep acne scars. A green corrector would be required for cancelling the redness. Using an eye cream prior application is a must otherwise it won’t blend properly. The same goes for the face. Using a moisturizer is a must for proper blending. I need to blend it fast as it dries out fast. I use patting motions for both eyes and face. Sometimes, I also use a brush sprayed with setting mist to blend out. After that, I set it with powder. The result is so clean. Even with near to full coverage, the face doesn’t look dull and cakey but actually glowy!
In this hot and humid weather, it stays on amazingly well! It stays on for more than 7-8 hours without any creasing. Only after that, I find it creasing a little. On my face, it lasts for more than 7-8 hours with little fading. Setting it with powder is a must to avoid creasing. I’m sure it going to last for long in winters.
I have the shade ‘CW04, Beige’ which has got warm undertones and therefore, it works for my warm skin so nicely. It’s just that it has more yellow than required for my skin tone. For the eye area, the shade works real nicely but on my face, I can see a little differentiation if I zoom in my eyes. You can also see how I used it in my tutorial for how to conceal dark circles using affordable products. See in pictures how it’s yellower than required for my face. It brightens up my eye area very nicely. And, as for the face, I blend it in with my foundation so that my blemishes don’t get noticed any differently.
*See the yellow cast on face? Wish it was a perfect match for my face. I therefore blend it with my foundation so that it looks much less obvious and this is a very close up shot*
Summary:
NYX HD Photogenic concealer is an amazing and affordable concealer that’s lightweight, provides near to full coverage without looking obvious and stays on for long. Just make sure to moisturize properly to avoid any cakey effect and work fast before it sets.
While this shade is right for my under eye area, I hope to find the perfect shade for my face next time I visit Sephora. Plus, it’s always a pain to get the ideal base match for your face. Isn’t it? However, I do feel that I have become a little better with some trials and errors.
