Have you ever brought something expensive thinking it was an investment but it actually turned out to be a dud?
I was searching for an ultimate primer for my super oily skin and have read great reviews for this product and about its super great oil controlling properties. I therefore brought it thinking it would be an investment.
What MAC says about this:
“A skin-protecting cream with SPF 50. Applies under makeup to prime the skin for the sun. Featherweight, fast-absorbing, oil-free, invisible. Will not affect the look, texture or long-wear integrity of your makeup. Specially formulated with oil-absorbing powder, helps prevent oil breakthrough. Provides high-level broad spectrum sun protection. Worn daily helps guard the skin against discolouration, premature aging, dryness and other effects of sun exposure. Suitable for all skins“.
Now, coming firstly to the reasons for why I like this product :
– The packaging is adorable. It comes in a black cover with minute glitters on it. The shape of the bottle is so cute. I like the cap too.
– It gives a smooth finish to the face and helps in gliding the foundation more evenly.
I It will be a really good primer for those with dry skin since it’s emollient in a non-greasy way.
I It will be a really good primer for those with dry skin since it’s emollient in a non-greasy way.
– It has got a high SPF protection level.
– It gets absorbed easily and gives a little glow.
– And, urmm.. I can’t think of anymore!
Now, coming to the reasons for why I dislike this product:
– The packaging is also bad in a way that when less product is left, it would be real hard to squeeze the tube and get the product out. One can’t even see how much product is left in the tube.
– It has got very average oil control properties in itself for my oily skin. Just within 30 minutes after stepping in the sun, it made my face oily. In fact, it has a creamy white texture.
– When I was having combination skin previously, it still made my T-Zone oily after some 1 hour.
Clearly, I’m very disappointed with this product.
Although this will work very well for dry skinned gals since leaving the oil control part, it does softens the skin, lends a glow to the skin and foundation glides on easily.
Now I have read many places online that MAC has changed its formula and that the old formula was way better than the new one. The new formula doesn’t have good oil controlling properties and judging by their talks, MAC hasn’t taken any action. I fail to understand how companies can charge such big bucks when they can’t even fulfill their main claim.
